Old Bones Odyssey Podcast & Archives - M57 Straight from Delancey & M57 On-Air Urban Salon - Two Podcast Series - 2014 & 2013

M57 STRAIGHT FROM DELANCEY

Moscow 57, the new Russian Central Asian restaurant with live music nightly on Delancey Street in New York City aired its broadcast radio show, M57 Straight from Delancey, on Sunday nights from the restaurant with a live audience.  The show could be heard on WVOX 1460 AM (and it streamed on the radio station’s website, www.wvox.com) and as a podcast on Moscow 57’s website. M57 Straight from Delancey was hosted by Moscow 57 owners Ellen Kaye and Seth Goldman along with Music Director/Producer Ethan Fein. The show, which featured live music performances, interviews with artists and community cultural icons, aired for fourteen weeks. The M57 Band was led by arranger/producer Ethan Fein on guitar and banjo and features Benjamin Franklin Brown on Bass.

Each week, the Moscow 57 guests ate and drank amid the exciting hustle and bustle of a live radio broadcast.  Engineer Bill Moss hooked up his microphones, cables and soundboard, the radio show guests gathered around their table and the quintessential New York event occurred: the audience got to be part of the show.  Each episode was archived, so guests in the live audience could hear themselves on radio once the show had aired.

M57 ON-AIR URBAN SALON

Ellen and the M57 team produced 7 podcasts with live music and 30 interviews, including the last interview of the great comedy team Stiller and Meara, Milton Glaser, the artist and co-founder of New York Magazine, musicians from New Orleans and Italy, and other thematic shows.

Episode 7 of the M57 On-Air Urban Salon is an omnibus of music and ideas. At the table is comedian Jeff Kreisler, author of “Get Rich Cheating” and restaurant consultant Clark Wolf. We talk about food, politics, the politics of food, economics, and of course, chicken. Recorded on the eve of our heading to New Orleans to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Que Pasa Fest, we hear the music of Alfonso Villalonga from Barcelona, John Boutte from New Orleans, New York-based artists Valentin Mesa and Kayte Grace. We play Frenesi, a classic from Linda Ronstadt. Seth Goldman and Sandi Billingslea co-host and Ellen Kaye hosts and sings with the M57 Band: Ethan Fein, Music Director, guitar and banjo, Benjamin Franklin Brown on bass, Gio Cepeda on drums and Sandi Billingslea on violin.
